Interested in the future of your village?

After nearly two years in the making, the

West Chiltington Neighbourhood Plan (Draft) will be available for viewing and Public Consultation on Saturday 4th July prior to submission to Horsham District Council and referendum.

The Parish Council will present the Draft Neighbourhood Plan at 11am

and all residents are invited to attend.

Members of the Parish Council will be on hand to answer questions, give advice on how to access it online and submit comments.

The purpose of a Neighbourhood Plan is for the local community to determine where future development will go and, once the plan is approved, it forms part of the legal considerations that Horsham District Council has to take into account in determining planning applications relating to the area.  It is compiled in accordance with legislation set out by Government and has to fit within the Local Authority Planning Framework.  Horsham District has a target of 1500 homes to come from Neighbourhood Plans across the district.

The Neighbourhood Plan sets out a framework to guide residents, local authorities and developers on how the community wishes to manage future development in West Chiltington Parish over the period June 2015 to 2031 along with its facilities, services and environment.  The intention is that the document will be updated periodically as well as formally every 5 years.

Development in West Chiltington is not expected to be significant: it will be limited to what is required by local need as determined by the most recent Housing Needs Survey.  The Neighbourhood Plan is intended to give residents a real influence over what development takes place, where it takes place and the rate of growth.  ‘No development’ is not an option – the Plan is intended to control where development takes place.  If we do not have an agreed Plan, residents have far less influence over what development does take place within the Parish.

This launch is your chance to be involved with the future of West Chiltington!  Please tell your neighbours and come along to find out more.

The consultation period will run from 4th July to 31st August 2015.  There will also be a stand at the Village Show on Saturday 18th July.  (After 4th July it will be possible to find out how to obtain a copy of the Plan by contacting the Parish Clerk.)

Please let us know what you think – the views of all residents are important, but we cannot know what they are unless you tell us!
